Larapinta for a Cure
Story
On the 26th July 2017 I will be putting the hiking boots back on and heading to Outback Australia to trek one of Australia's Best Long Distance Walks - the Larapinta Trail.
I'm taking on my 6th Adventure Challenge to raise money for the ground-breaking work the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation do.
Since being diagnosed with cancer 6.5 years ago at the age of 26 I have made it my mission to play a part in the fight against cancer.
The past six years have seen me tackle 9 days roughing it in the Papua New Guinea Jungle to complete the gruelling Kokoda Trail (Nov 12), reach over 4,000m on the Salcantay Trek to Machu Picchu (Jun 13) and despite being a non-runner complete the Sydney Half Marathon in 2hrs16 (Sep 14) before scaling the great heights of the highest freestanding mountain in the world - Mt Kilimanjaro at 5,895m (Oct 15). And most recently complete the New York Marathon in 4hrs46 (Nov 16). These five challenges have seen me personally raise over $46,000 to assist Cure Cancer in stamping out cancer, (and combined group fundraising has exceeded $700k).
This time I am looking to raise $3,906 and take my new fundraising total to $50,000. It's an honour to be able to raise funds for such an incredible charity that has the single focus to find a cure for cancer - no less.
Thank you for your support in helping me reach my fundraising target and encouraging me to ramp up the training schedule!

Cure Cancer Australia Foundation
CURE CANCER AUSTRALIA'S focus is to find a cure for cancer.
Cure Cancer Australia invests exclusively in Australia’s brightest emerging researchers to combat all types of cancer.
Our funds have greatest impact in early career research, when different ideas and challenging perspectives burn brightest.
More Australians than ever before are being diagnosed with cancer. Finding ways to treat it is increasingly critical and research is the best weapon we have in the fight. But no-one can cure cancer by themselves. We need to work as a team.
It’s a huge task to raise the money we need for vital research and we can only do it with your help. You may choose to donate, fundraise via an existing event, join a Can Too Program, or create your own fundraising challenge or event. Whatever you choose, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
We cannot CURE CANCER without you. Let’s CURE CANCER Together.
